Students and staff are ecstatic having received the most successful GCSE and BTEC results for many years.
This is a huge step forward for the college which demonstrates that newly implemented strategies are having a big impact on outcomes. Specifically, attainment in English and Maths has improved dramatically with those achieving grade 5 or above rising by over 10%. Early indications are that the subsequent progress 8 score will be the best yet.
This rapid improvement cuts through all aspects of college life and is reflected in the positive comments from our year 11 leavers.
Daniel Buckley’s results included 9 grade 9’s which compare with the best results in the country. Since joining us from Cronton CE primary he has thrived in all aspects of college life and is going on to Cronton College to study Maths, Physics and Engineering with the target of pursuing a career in the engineering sector.
Daniel said:
“I thought that I’d done pretty well but not this well! I enjoyed being at Ss Peter and Paul and worked really hard, so couldn’t be happier with these results”
Ella Turner achieved a suite of grade 8’s and 9’s and is going to Carmel College to study History, Law and French. Chair of Governors at St Basil’s, Christine Wilson is delighted that you have gone on to be so successful.
Ella said: “I never thought that I’d do so well!”
Keeley Dennett also achieved outstanding results which included 3 grade 9’s and 5 grade 8’s. Keeley, who came to Ss Peter and Paul from St Gerard’s Primary is going to Cronton College to study Biology, Maths and Physics with the hope of becoming a teacher having been inspired by Mr Rhodes, her Form Tutor.
Keeley’s dad said:
“She has not stopped working hard since year 7 so deserves such good grades. We are so proud of her.”
Our Principal, Mrs Scott said:
‘I am overwhelmed with pride for our students who have worked incredibly hard to get these fantastic results today. I know that the vast majority of students will be delighted with what they have achieved and what opportunities now lie ahead. Many will be taking advantage of the places offered to them from Carmel College and Cronton College, which have come about as a result of our close partnership, while others are heading into apprenticeships or the world of work. The staff here have responded really positively to the changes that have been implemented this year and these results are further evidence that we are moving forward together as a team. I am excited about the years ahead and the significant impact we can have on our community.”
Jim Wilson, speaking on behalf of the governors said:
“This is an exciting time to be a student at Ss Peter andPaul Catholic College. The momentum created by these results will continue to drive forward our success and positively impact on the outcomes of all students.”
Mrs Cain, from the Parent Partnership group commented:
“The Parent Partnership can see that positive steps are being taken to involve parents and listen to their feedback so that improvements can be made. The results demonstrate that we are moving forward together to improve outcomes.”
